Hello,
Henry-John de Leon is a Los Angeles–based Character Designer and Visual Development Artist specializing in cinematic storytelling for animation.
Born in the Philippines and raised in a military family, Henry developed an early appreciation for myth, heroism, and cross-cultural storytelling — themes that continue to influence his work. He holds a B.A. in Studio Art from UC Irvine and a B.F.A. in Graphic Design from ArtCenter College of Design.
Henry began his career in main title and brand design at Elastic.tv (now Makemake), where he contributed to Emmy-recognized projects and developed a strong foundation in narrative-driven visual systems. His work centered on translating epic themes into cohesive design language across character, environment, and typography.
Transitioning into animation, Henry now focuses on character design and visual development for story-driven series and features. His strengths include:
Mythic and archetypal character construction
Cinematic silhouette and costume language
World-building through cultural and symbolic detail
Expression, performance, and emotional range
Visual cohesion across large-scale universes
Henry is passionate about building timeless characters within expansive worlds and is available for staff or freelance opportunities in animated series and feature development.
